South Staffordshire Health Watch Walking Schemes

Health Watch Walks is a health walk scheme in the beautiful district of South Staffordshire. The walks range from easy, up to 30 minute strolls to more challenging longer walks and we welcome everyone to come along and join our friendly sociable groups. Walks are led by our trained volunteers and usually end with refreshments.

Our groups are very active and meet regularly whilst many of our walkers have gone on to become Walk Leaders and formed additional groups within our scheme and also helped to develop a Progressive Walks programme for those who have enjoyed our Health walks but wish for more challenging walks.

Walking for Health walks are suitable for everyone from those who are, or have been, very inactive or are recovering from illness/injury to those who want to extend themselves with a walk of up to 90 minutes, where there might be some, but not difficult to negotiate, obstacles.

We undertake training of walk leaders, usually at South Staffordshire Council Offices. It is usually a day course (9.45am to 4.00pm)and includes all resources, a demonstration walk and refreshments, and it is all entirely free of charge.

In addition we can help any group in South Staffordshire to set up their own walk and this will be affiliated to our scheme which is fully acredited by the national Walking for Health Scheme currently managed by The Ramblers (the largest walking charity in the UK) in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Trust. This is entirely free of charge.

Please contact us if you require any further information.
